The Weaver's Lineage & Philosophy

Working from their traditional pit-loom workshop near the Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram, Meenakshi and her husband Ananthamurthy are masters of the rare Korvai interlocking technique. It requires two weavers operating simultaneously to interlock the contrasting temple border with the body of heavy 3-ply mulberry silk.
